GÖLGELERİN ARDINDA: SAVAŞ, ALGI VE ÖZGÜRLÜK

Bizler, gerçeği gölgelerden ayırmaya cesaret edenleriz. Bu sergi, savaşın ve onun yarattığı yanılsamaların ardındaki hakikati sorgulayan bir çağrıdır. Platon’un Mağara Alegorisi’nden ilhamla, savaşın yarattığı illüzyonları, propagandanın zincirlerini ve bireyin özgürleşme mücadelesini sanatın diliyle yeniden yorumluyoruz.

Bugün, Filistin’de yaşanan trajedi, bu mağaranın en somut örneklerinden biridir. Gerçeklerin çarpıtıldığı, hakikatin susturulduğu, acının ve direnişin gölgeler ardına saklandığı bir savaşın içindeyiz.

MAĞARA: GERÇEKLİĞİN ÇARPITILDIĞI YER

Tarih boyunca savaş, yalnızca cephelerde değil, zihinlerde de sürdürülmüştür. İktidarlar ve medya, savaşın haklılığını kanıtlamak, işgali meşrulaştırmak ve direnişi bastırmak için gölgeler yaratır. Büyük medya kuruluşları, mağduru suçlu gösteren anlatılar inşa ederek küresel vicdanı uyuşturmaktadır.

Noam Chomsky’nin Rıza Üretimi kavramıyla açıkladığı gibi, savaşın en güçlü silahlarından biri bilgi üzerindeki kontroldür.

ZİNCİRLERİ KIRMAK: ÖZGÜRLÜK ARAYIŞI

Bir mahkûmun mağaradan çıkışı gibi, bireyin savaşın ardındaki hakikati görme süreci de sancılıdır. Hakikati görmek, medya manipülasyonunu aşmak ve güçlülerin çizdiği anlatıya boyun eğmemek cesaret ister.

George Orwell’in 1984 eserinde olduğu gibi, savaşın adı “barış”, zulmün adı “güvenlik” olarak sunulmaktadır. Orwell’in distopyasında, iktidar gerçekliği sürekli olarak çarpıtarak kitleleri kontrol altında tutar. Ancak hakikat, ne kadar bastırılırsa bastırılsın var olmaya devam eder.

Jean-Paul Sartre, insanın özgürleşmesi için önce farkına varması gerektiğini söyler. Sartre’a göre, insan kendi kaderinin sorumluluğunu almadığı sürece zincirlerinden kurtulamaz. Ancak özgürleşme her zaman sancılıdır; çünkü insan, hakikati gördüğünde artık eski konforuna geri dönemez.

GERÇEĞİ HAYKIRMAK: SESSİZLİĞİ BOZMAK

Mağaradan çıkan ve gerçeği görenler, susturulmaya çalışılır. Hakikati dile getiren gazeteciler, sanatçılar ve aydınlar sıklıkla hedef alınmış, sansüre uğramış ve toplumdan dışlanmıştır.

Hannah Arendt’in dediği gibi, kötülük her zaman canavarca değildir; çoğu zaman sıradanlaşmış, sistematikleşmiş ve meşrulaştırılmıştır. Ancak suskunluk, bu sistemin bir parçası haline gelmek demektir.

Albert Camus, Başkaldıran İnsan adlı eserinde, adaletsizliğe karşı çıkmanın yalnızca bir ahlaki zorunluluk değil, aynı zamanda insanın varoluşsal bir gerekliliği olduğunu belirtir. “Başkaldırıyorum, öyleyse varım” diyen Camus’nün sözleri, bugün haksızlığa karşı susmamanın ne kadar önemli olduğunu bir kez daha hatırlatmaktadır.

Sanat, suskunluğa karşı bir direniş biçimidir. Bu sergide yer alan eserim RENAMED, yalnızca savaşın yıkımını değil, aynı zamanda direnişin, umudun ve hakikatin gücünü de anlatıyor.

Filistin halkının mücadelesi, yalnızca onların değil, tüm insanlığın sınavıdır.

BEHIND THE SHADOWS: WAR, PERCEPTION, AND FREEDOM

We are those who dare to separate truth from shadows.

This exhibition is a call to question the reality hidden behind the illusions of war and its consequences. Inspired by Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, we reinterpret the illusions created by war, the chains of propaganda, and the individual’s struggle for liberation through the language of art.

Today, the tragedy unfolding in Palestine is one of the most concrete examples of this cave.

We are living through a war where truths are distorted, realities are silenced, and pain and resistance are hidden behind shadows.

THE CAVE: WHERE REALITY IS DISTORTED

Throughout history, war has been waged not only on the battlefields but also in the minds.

Governments and the media create shadows to justify wars, legitimize occupations, and suppress resistance.

Major media outlets build narratives that portray the victims as aggressors, numbing the global conscience.

As Noam Chomsky explained through his concept of “Manufacturing Consent,” one of the most powerful weapons of war is the control over information.

BREAKING THE CHAINS: THE QUEST FOR FREEDOM

Like a prisoner’s painful exit from the cave, the process of seeing the truth behind wars demands courage.

To recognize the truth, to resist media manipulation, and to reject the narratives drawn by the powerful requires boldness.

As depicted in George Orwell’s 1984, war is called “peace,” and oppression is called “security.”

In Orwell’s dystopia, the ruling power constantly distorts reality to keep the masses under control.

Yet the truth, no matter how much it is suppressed, continues to exist.

Jean-Paul Sartre asserts that to achieve liberation, one must first become aware.

According to Sartre, unless a person assumes responsibility for their own destiny, they cannot break free from their chains.

However, liberation is always painful; once one sees the truth, there is no return to the former comfort.

SHOUTING THE TRUTH: BREAKING THE SILENCE

Those who emerge from the cave and witness the truth are often silenced.

Journalists, artists, and intellectuals who voice the truth are frequently targeted, censored, and marginalized.

As Hannah Arendt observed, evil is often not monstrous but banal, systematic, and legitimized.

Silence, therefore, means becoming complicit in this system.

Albert Camus, in The Rebel, states that standing against injustice is not only a moral imperative but also an existential necessity.

By declaring “I rebel, therefore I exist,” Camus reminds us once again of the importance of not remaining silent in the face of injustice.

Art is a form of resistance against silence.

My installation RENAMED, presented in this exhibition, speaks not only of the destruction caused by war but also of the strength of resistance, hope, and truth.

The time has come to stop mistaking shadows for reality.

The struggle of the Palestinian people is not only theirs; it is a test for all of humanity.

Liberation begins with seeing the truth.

And art is the most powerful way to open our eyes.
